Wohoo, look how sexy I am. Excited?
Anyone can be an alternative model. Really. You know, it’s easier than you think. How do I know that? Well, recently I was looking for a model on ModelMayhem. And, amongst maybe a two or three faces (and legs, and bodies) I could use for the upcoming shoot, I’ve found lots of the so-called “alternative models”. Definition? Well, I’d say:
Alternative model - girl, usually in early 20’s or even below that. Coloured hair, “bubbly” look and personality (so forget about decent dress size), multiple piercings. Tattoos. Lots. Alternative model poses alternatively for alternative shoots, so we have fetish, gothic lolita stuff and dark, vampiric, moody, sometimes “metal-ish” look. Surprisingly, most often - no nudity (clear to see that nudity is not alternative, as everyone can go nude). Always comes with a chaperone included.
Alternative models are a plague in freelance modeling world. It seems like every emo girl in the UK, pretty or ugly, skinny or fat can be a model now - and yeah, she can for sure. But good model must act, and that goes beyond posing with fake blood and not-so-sharp, plastic knives pointing on main arteries. Give me a break, girls. Go to the gym, get the acting classes, stop eating junk food. Be a real alternative.
Everyone has a right to be cool. I just wish that some people would have more auto-criticism.
